Strong demand in BCTQ Safety and Survey Services

Strong demand in BCTQ Safety and Survey Services has resulted in a number of challenging and varied contracts already confirmed for 2012.

Most recently, a major contract from a Middle Eastern tanker fleet operator requires audit and training services across a 15+ fleet of vessels, entailing up to 150 man days of onboard work over the course of the next 12 months.     

The work involves providing bespoke training modules and materials tailored to meet the owner’s in-house systems and requirements, following which, BCTQ consultants will travel onboard delivering training to the ships staff in their own environment. In addition, Navigation, ISM and ISPS audits will also be undertaken as part of the contract.

One of our existing US based clients, operating a fleet of deep sea and great lakes vessels, has asked us to provide additional audit and training services to three US Military Sealift Command vessels of which the client has recently taken over the management of.

Last year, 2 man teams from BCTQ Safety and Survey Services carried out in-depth condition assessment programs both onboard and ashore at the management offices of a three ship passenger vessel operator, providing life expectancy projections and cost estimates based on those projections.

Further examples of work recently completed by our Safety and Survey Services team has included:-

  • Supervision, cost control and monitoring services on behalf of underwriters to the repair of a luxury yacht which sustained severe flooding damage.
  • Expert evidence at a London arbitration, in respect of a shipbuilding contract dispute.
  • Various pre-purchase inspections of large luxury yachts, ranging in size from 35m to 75m
  • Technical planning services, for the owner of a recently acquired yacht, prior to a planned refit.
